The monsoon is here. While the showers bring some much-needed respite from the scorching heat, they bring some problems too. One of the worst things about monsoon is that the clothes have a lurking damp and musty smell post washing that leaves anyone with an unpleasant mood. And no amount of washing or drying helps get rid of this smell.

However, these nasty stink can be taken care of with some easy home remedies.

Material required

Vodka

Spray container

Water

Lemon

Baking soda

Vinegar

Coffee beans

Essential oils

Use vodka

While you can drink some to uplift your mood, you can definitely use this to take care of monsoon dampness. Just take a little bit of the liquid and transfer it into an empty spray container. Add some water to it, so that it gets diluted, and then spritz it directly on clothes. The smell goes away in a jiffy.

Mix baking soda + vinegar

Baking soda can take care of so many of your problems. Your regular washing powder might not be enough to give you the fresh smell you are expecting from washing clothes. Vinegar combined with baking soda is a powerful freshener. All you need to do is add baking soda and vinegar mixture to your detergent and put your clothes for wash.

Go for coffee beans, essential oils

Who doesn’t love the fresh scent of coffee? You can leave freshly ground coffee in an open container inside your closet and the musty smell vanishes too. Also, if you have vaporisers in your house, mix essential oils with water into it for a fresh feel.

Try lemon juice

Another hack that you can try is lemon juice. Lemon fixes many woes of household needs. Being acidic in nature, lemon can wipe out fungi that causes a musty smell. Use a detergent that has lemon and rose in it so that your clothes smell fresh. You can also add some lemon juice with detergent while washing your clothes.
