During an interview with Bloomberg Television, Nita Ambani, Anant’s mother, shared an emotional moment from his wedding journey. “My son Anant has been fighting obesity from a very young age because of his asthma and when he went up on a stage as a confident groom, he told me, ‘Mom, it’s not what I am physically, it’s what my heart is.’ And I saw him holding his life partner’s hand. I think that was the most touching feeling, as a mother.”
A wedding to remember
Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding was the talk of the town for most part of the year 2024. The festivities strecthed over several months and spanning multiple countries. It began with a spectacular three-day celebration in Jamnagar in March, followed by an exclusive European cruise in June, and concluded with an extravagant three-day wedding ceremony in Mumbai in July. The grandeur of these celebrations set a new benchmark for elite weddings worldwide.
Reflecting on her own marriage, Nita Ambani shared her thoughts on the importance of choosing the right partner. “I often tell my children that the biggest decision you take in your life is to choose your life partner. And every day of my life I feel so blessed because I am married to my best friend. Mukesh has been my true supporter. The wind beneath my wings. He’s my biggest inspiration. So I think to have married someone who supports you unconditionally the way Mukesh supports me truly is a blessing.”
Nita Ambani's love story with Mukesh Ambani began in 1985 when she was a schoolteacher. Over the decades, their relationship has remained steadfast, rooted in mutual respect, support, and friendship.
A celebration of tradition and culture
The wedding celebrations drew worldwide attention, featuring performances by global icons such as Rihanna. Celebrities like Kim and Khloe Kardashian, along with top business leaders and sports personalities, attended the grand affair, making it a truly international spectacle.

Some were proud and happy of the fact that the grand wedding took place in Mumbai, India while some expressed their disagreement over the size and expenditure on the enwedding. When asked about the scale of the celebrations, Nita Ambani expressed her sentiment. “You know every parent wants to do their best for their children’s wedding. And that’s what we did in all this.
I think it was a made-in-India brand that came out.” She also emphasised the cultural importance of the event. “I am happy that I was able to kind of bring to the centre-stage our Indian traditions, Indian heritage, and Indian culture.”
