Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Congress party released a CCTV footage on Monday evening, claiming that Indore Municipal Corporation’s Leader of Opposition Chintu Chouksey—who was sent to jail for allegedly attacking a BJP leader Kapil Pathak & his family —was attending a community feast in the Vijay Nagar area at the time of the incident and thus was not present at the crime scene.
However, police said that they have evidence of Chouksey being at the crime scene.
Congress state spokesperson Neelabh Shukla presented the CCTV footage, stating that Chintu Chouksey can be seen at a community feast from 9:20 to 9:35 pm.

Referring to the FIR, which mentions the time of the crime as 9:30 pm, Shukla questioned how a person could be present at two places at the same time.
He argued that the footage clearly proves Chouksey was not at the scene of the incident but was attending the feast during that period.
Shukla also raised questions over the police action, alleging that it was politically motivated. He claimed that the action taken against Chouksey was clearly driven by political vendetta.
Meanwhile, DCP (zone 3) Hansraj Singh said that the police have sufficient evidence confirming Chouksey’s presence at the crime scene. He added that the incident occurred between 9:30 pm and 11:00 pm, and the police have witness statements and other technical evidence supporting their claim.
Congress leaders visit Chouksey in jail
Congress state in-charge Harish Chaudhary and party president Jitu Patwari visited Indore Central Jail on Monday morning to meet Chintu Chouksey. The leader of opposition in Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC), Chouksey was arrested on charges of attempt to murder. The leaders called it an act of vengeance by the ruling BJP.
Talking to reporters after meeting Chouksey in jail, Harish Chaudhary, said, "The BJP has forgotten humanity in its arrogance of power. Chouksey has been arrested by registering a false case against him due to political animosity."
He also pointed out that Chouksey was not even present at the spot when the fight happened. There is no case of attempt to murder against him. He said Chouksey's nephew was seriously injured in the brawl and doctors have kept him under observation for 48 hours in a hospital, but no proper action has been taken against the accused in the case. Choudhary said, "We will fight for Chouksey from the streets to the court."
The leaders told Chouksey that the entire Congress party stands with him. They strongly condemned the use of police force for targeting political opponents.
