Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Following the decision to dismantle the BRTS corridor, the Municipal Corporation is set to construct 40 new bus stops on both sides of the road.
This shift in public transport planning comes with the additional plan of constructing a brand-new central road divider at a cost of Rs 17 crore.
The BRTS corridor demolition tender is ready for release. Interestingly, the same contractor tasked with breaking the corridor will also be responsible for debris removal. During the corridor dismantling, iBus services will continue to operate without interruption.
The 40 new stops will be constructed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model from Niranjanpur Chauraha to Rajiv Gandhi Square. The agency constructing the stops will earn advertising rights at the location, thus saving public funds and generating revenue.

In a separate yet related development, over 600 old city bus stops are being replaced city-wide, beginning with MG Road. The first phase includes 200 modern, commuter-friendly stops. These new shelters will have better design, seating and facilities, with costs offset through advertisement panels.
The shift marks a significant improvement in public infrastructure, blending modernisation with financial sustainability in Indore’s evolving urban landscape.
