Madhya Pradesh: No One Listens Or Takes Me Seriously, Said BJP MLA Panna Lal Shakya

Guna (Madhya Pradesh): BJP MLA Panna Lal Shakya from Guna spoke out on Wednesday about being ignored by officials. He thinks this happens because he was elected from a reserved seat.

"No one listens to my ideas or takes my words seriously," Shakya said. He also stands against plans to make Guna a municipal corporation in its current form.

Shakya explained that former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had announced plans to make Guna a municipal corporation during his 2013-2018 term. Now the local government is moving forward with this plan. The collector recently held a meeting which Shakya attended.

At this meeting, officials proposed adding 36 villages to the municipal corporation but removing Haripur Panchayat. Shakya strongly opposes this decision.

"Why remove Haripur Panchayat? The Footwear Design and Development Institute is there. We want it developed," said the MLA. "Many government buildings are being misused - some store hay, others keep animals. I complained many times, but nobody listened."

Shakya mentioned that he suggested building a bridge from Vivek Colony to Bypass to solve traffic problems, but nobody discussed his idea.

"People elected me as their representative, but the government ignores my words," Shakya stated. "Meanwhile, they listen to people who hold no elected position. This is very troubling."

The MLA has spoken with Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia about keeping Haripur in the municipal corporation plans. The collector and BJP district president also discussed this with Scindia.

Getting emotional, Shakya said, "I'm treated this way because I'm from a reserved seat. I come from a poor family. I don't seek fame, but I must speak up."
