Indore’s Smart City Model Gains Global Recognition; 10 Indonesian Cities Show Interest
This development came at the fourth Climate Resilient and Inclusive Cities (CRIC) thematic panel on environmental and climate financing organised by All India Institute of Local Self-Government (AIILSG) and United Cities and Local Governments Asia Pacific (UCLG ASPAC) in Kochi from February 4 to 6, 2025.

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore Smart City's model of innovations in the field of waste management and urban development strategies has made a favourable impression on Indonesian cities. Ten Indonesian cities have evinced keenness to follow the Indore model to enhance their waste management and urban development strategies.
This development came at the fourth Climate Resilient and Inclusive Cities (CRIC) thematic panel on environmental and climate financing organised by All India Institute of Local Self-Government (AIILSG) and United Cities and Local Governments Asia Pacific (UCLG ASPAC) in Kochi from February 4 to 6, 2025. The event aimed to promote urban practices, strengthen waste management, and enhance climate and environmental sustainability.

During the City Pairing session, Indore Smart City Development Limited (ISCDL) CEO, Divyank Singh, shared Indore’s best innovations with representatives from ten CRIC pilot cities in Indonesia. He presented Indore's advancements in waste segregation, recycling, and circular economy models, highlighting the city’s innovative approaches and sanitation achievements, which can significantly contribute to urban development.
The event was attended by key dignitaries, including UCLG ASPAC’s CRIC project manager Arif, Cirebon city representative Ahmad Maulana Aziz, climate finance expert Praveen Bhardwaj, Matraman city representative Wibisana Gunaksa, AIILSG chief executive advisor Hansa Patel and other notable participants.
