Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In the alleged 'Love Jihad' funding case, police arrested Ayesha Qadri, daughter of on-the-run Congress corporator Anwar Qadri, from Delhi. She was allegedly arrested for helping her father in his on-the-run period.
Banganga police station in charge Siyaram Singh Gurjar said that Ayesha, who is a law student from a college in Delhi, is accused of staying in touch with her father using a second SIM card, allegedly stolen from a woman.
Police believe she may be involved in the conspiracy being investigated. She was produced before the court from where she was sent to police remand till August 3.
While Ayesha is in custody, her father Anwar Qadri remains missing. The police have stepped up the search across the country and the bounty for information leading to his arrest has been doubled to Rs 20,000.
It is noteworthy that two youths named Sahil and Altaf were caught a few days ago when they had revealed that they were given money by Anwar Qadri for friendship with the women from the different community. Police said that Qadri funded them to lure the women from the different communities for religious conversion.
Collector Asheesh Singh has invoked the National Security Act against Anwar, saying his actions threaten communal peace. Qadri has 18 criminal cases against him, including attempt to murder, illegal arms possession, and breaking the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act.
