Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A couple riding a two-wheeler was seriously injured when a speeding truck hit the bike from behind under Rajendra Nagar police station limits on Sunday afternoon.
The mishap occurred near AU Cinema on AB Road at around 2:15 PM when the couple was on their way to Indore from Pithampur to buy a new car.
According to the police, the injured persons were identified as Rajesh Kumar Bhonsle and his wife Anita Bhonsle, residents of Pithampur.
Rajesh’s nephew Gaurav Bhonsle told the police that he, his father, his uncle and aunt were travelling on two separate two-wheelers to buy a new car. A speeding truck with registration number MP09DU0533 came from behind and hit his uncle’s two-wheeler.
Rajesh and his wife fell and got trapped underneath the vehicle. Passersby gathered on the spot and one of them called an ambulance. The victims were rescued with the help of a crane and were immediately rushed to Choithram Hospital, where they were admitted to the ICU for treatment.
Rajesh suffered injuries to both legs and chest, while his wife Anita sustained fractures in her legs, feet and arms. Their motorcycle also suffered significant damage due to the impact. The police registered a case against the errant truck driver under relevant sections of the BNS and seized the truck.
