Indore: IIT Indore nurturing 75 technologies for conversion into useful products

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore Institute of Technology Indore director Prof Suhas Joshi has revealed that they are nurturing about 75 technologies for their prototyping and conversion into useful products.
βAt the same time, the institute is inculcating the spirit of entrepreneurship through foundation level course in entrepreneurship and business case study assignments to the students,β he said while addressing the first group monitoring workshop of SERB Start-up Research Grant - Life Sciences (SRG-LS) held from July 4 to 5.
IIT Indore hosted the workshop wherein Joshi briefed about the plan of developing a research-based entrepreneurial ecosystem in the institute.
He hailed the efforts of SERB in encouraging young researchers by providing them with start-up research grants through this program.
βI also hope this workshop conducted by SERB will be very fruitful to the budding researchers as it will enable the technology developed, to not remain confined to the laboratories but move to an advanced form,β he said.
The inaugural session was attended by Prof Shiv Mohan Singh (Scientist G), SERB-DST, SRG program advisor, Prof Manoj Prasad, chairman, SRG-LS Committee, and Dr Pramod Kumar Prasad, program officer, SERB-SRG Life Sciences.
A total of 23 expert committee members and 85 principal investigators (PIs) from various institutions attended the workshop. The PIs presented their research work during the sessions conducted on July 4 and 5.
During the workshop, SERB monitored and evaluated the progress of approximately 85 ongoing projects in life sciences submitted under the Start-up Research grant program.
The Start-up Research Grant (SRG) scheme is meant to enable researchers working in frontier areas of science and engineering to establish themselves and move on to the mainstream core research grant.
