Indore (Madhya Predesh): The City Crime Branch arrested an on-the-run accused in a case related to the illegal trafficking of MD drugs, police said on Thursday. The accused had been evading arrest since another suspect was caught earlier this year with 11.4 grams of MD drugs worth around Rs 1.10 lakh.
According to Crime Branch officials, the case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after the arrest of Alfaz Khan, from whose possession 11.4 grams of MD drugs were recovered. During the investigation, Shahid Mansoori, a resident of Firdous Nagar, was identified as another accused in the case. Police said Shahid, who works as an AC repair technician, had remained on the run after the incident.
Based on these inputs, officers traced and arrested Shahid. Police are now questioning him to identify the source of the drugs, suppliers, buyers and other people involved in the illegal narcotics network. Officials said further investigation is underway and more arrests may follow based on the information collected during interrogation.
Officials claimed that since Jan 1, 2026, the Crime Branch had registered 54 NDPS cases and arrested 116 accused. During these operations, police seized 2.38778 kg of MD drugs, 28.338 kg of ganja, 500 kg of bhang, 268.58 grams of brown sugar, 10 grams of cocaine, four country-made pistols with magazines and four live cartridges, along with vehicles and other property collectively valued at around Rs 2.96 crore.
