Susner (Madhya Pradesh): As summer temperatures soar and water sources dwindle, social activist Manoj Soni has launched his annual ‘Pakshi Mitra Abhiyan’ (Bird Friend Campaign) in Susner, this time involving his daughters Dakshayani and Kavyashree by placing earthen water pots for birds on rooftops.
For the last 10 years, Soni has been providing water and food for birds while encouraging community participation. The campaign extends beyond simply encouraging residents to place water pots - Soni personally provides containers to those in need and teaches others how to create their own.
His water stations include millet, rice, moong and other grains to provide complete nourishment. Soni also created a WhatsApp group where community members share photos of their water pots, inspiring others to join the movement.
Soni's environmental consciousness dates back to his childhood and has influenced his daughters, who help arrange the pots and take responsibility for daily cleaning and refilling.
The campaign arrives at a crucial time when human focus on personal comfort has reduced sensitivity toward nature and animals. Soni's initiative offers a positive direction for society, serving not only as bird relief but also as a reminder to maintain humanity and compassion.
