“The BJP government at the Centre is unable to arrest the accused. It is solely because their leader is guilty," she said.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee once again took to the streets in Kolkata to protest against the alleged harassment of wrestlers in the national capital.

During a candlelight march, Mamata expressed her concern over the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) attempts to gain control over various sports organisations.

"The BJP is trying to take over every sports organisation in the country, with these organisations now being headed by BJP leaders. There is a registered POCSO case against the WFI chief, and despite court intervention, the police have failed to take action. The BJP leader should not just resign, but also be arrested. I am ashamed of this incident," Mamata stated.

Emphasising that the protest is a fight for freedom, Mamata, the West Bengal Chief Minister, asserted that political individuals should not hold positions as chairpersons of sports organizations.

"We have taken to the streets for justice because the road shows us the path ahead. The court has ordered an investigation, but the police claim to have found no evidence. According to the law, the BJP minister should be arrested since a POCSO case has been filed against him. BJP leaders often say, 'One party, one nation, one leader, one law.' If there is one law for all, then why are wrestlers facing discrimination? Why are they not receiving justice according to the law? We are thankful to the Supreme Court for its directive to file an FIR and take action," Mamata further added.

At the conclusion of the rally at the Gandhi statue, Mamata rode pillion on a motorcycle.
