Watch video: Delhi man gets annoyed by barking, beats dog and owners with iron rod

In a clear-cut case of animal cruelty, not to mention assault with deadly weapon on human beings, footage emerged of a man attacking three people with an iron rod in Delhi's Paschim Vihar, after his neighbour's dog barked at him and reportedly also bit him afetrward, the police said.

A man named Dharamvir Dahiya was walking on the street in the morning when a pet dog, owned by a Paschim Vihar resident, started barking at him, they said. Dahiya allegedly picked up the dog by its tail and threw it away.

In the CCTV footage, the man can be seen hitting the dog with a rod.

When the dog's owner came to rescue his pet, Dahiya thrashed the dog, who reportedly then bit him. This resulted in an altercation between the two men, officials said.

Dahiya then hit Rakshit and a woman from his family with the rod. He also attacked his other neighbour, a 53-year-old man, when he tried to intervene.

Police said that all the injured persons have been medically examined, while Dahiya is being treated at the hospital for the dog bite.

On the statement of Rakshit (owner of the dog), a case has been registered under various sections of the IPC and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act at Paschim Vihar East Police Station. Investigation of the case is in progress and facts are being verified, according to the Delhi Police.
