WATCH: Fire Breaks Out In New Delhi-Darbhanga 'Humsafar Express' In Etawah After Cylinder Explosion, 7 Injured

In a distressing incident, a Coach S-1 of Train No. 02570, the Humsafar Express traveling from New Delhi to Darbhanga, caught fire. The incident unfolded near Sarai Bhupat Railway Station in Etawah. The fire originated from an explosion in a cylinder. In response to the emergency, rail traffic was promptly halted to address the situation and ensure the safety of passengers and personnel.

Passengers escape with minor injuries

Seven passengers suffered minor burn injuries. One of the passengers was rescued in serious condition and has been sent to Kanpur for treatment.
The railway officials informed that the train was stopped immediately after the station master at Sarai Bhupat railway station saw smoke in the sleeper coach. The passengers were disembarked safely, officials said.

Several passengers jumped off the train as it caught fire. The train had reportedly exceeded its capacity, accommodating more passengers than intended.

16 trains halted after incident

Due to this incident the movement of 16 trains was stopped at the Delhi - Kanpur rail route for some time. CPRO, North Central Railway, Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay said the fire has been doused completely now.
