Jaipur: A video of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Baba Balmukund Acharya from Hawamahal sparked outrage after he was seen sitting on a police officer’s chair inside the Ramganj police station, scolding policemen and threatening municipal officials over the phone. The incident reportedly took place on July 13 during a meeting to discuss security arrangements for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra.
In the now-viral video, Acharya is seen asserting his authority while officers from Ramganj, Galta Gate and Manak Chowk police stations sit before him. The MLA can be heard shouting, “I will break your head, be careful, you call me Maharaj,” while speaking to a municipal officer over the phone.

The video drew criticism from several opposition leaders and social media users. Congress leader Tikaram Julie took a dig at Acharya on Instagram, writing, “The one whom the public elected for policy making, today, in the intoxication of power, has forgotten the dignity and decorum of the Constitution and law.”
He added that the people of Hawa Mahal were left wondering whether their representative was an MLA or the new in-charge of the police station.
Even former BJP state president Ashok Parnami appeared surprised during the meeting, questioning whether to address his concerns to the MLA or the actual police officer seated in front of him.
Meeting Was Held For Kanwar Yatra
The meeting was originally called to review arrangements for the Kanwar Yatra, including traffic control, parking and the temporary closure of meat shops along the religious procession route. However, the MLA’s conduct has shifted the spotlight away from public safety planning to political arrogance.
