Video : Newly Married Woman Sets Up Tent Outside In-Laws' Home In Muzaffarnagar After Being Denied Entry Following Honeymoon In Bali
Former MLA Umesh Malik has also reached the location and spoken with the bride's family. He told media that a panchayat (community meeting) has been scheduled for 1:30 PM on Tuesday to find a resolution to the situation.

In a shocking incident from UP's Muzaffarnagar, a newly-wed bride has set up a tent outside her in-laws' house and begun a protest with her family members. Shalini Singhal, who recently returned from her honeymoon, claims her husband has had a change of heart, and her in-laws are now demanding a dowry of 50 lakh rupees.
Shalini, who holds an LLB degree, married Pranav Singhal on February 12, 2025, in a lavish ceremony. The couple recently traveled to Bali, Indonesia, for their honeymoon. However, upon returning, Shalini alleges her husband's attitude changed dramatically.
When she attempted to return to her matrimonial home after visiting her parents, she found the doors closed to her. For the past 48 hours, Shalini and her family members have been sitting outside the gate of her in-laws' residence in Budhana area.
"I have my self-respect too," said Shalini. "My father arranged my marriage with great difficulty. Fifty lakh rupees is not a small amount."
The desperate bride has reportedly threatened suicide, stating she will end her life at the gate if not allowed entry. She alleges that her in-laws had been planning to abandon her since shortly after the wedding.
Police have visited the protest site and are investigating the matter. Former MLA Umesh Malik has also reached the location and spoken with the bride's family. He told media that a panchayat (community meeting) has been scheduled for 1:30 PM on Tuesday to find a resolution to the situation.
