A video circulating on social media on Friday showed men crossing a railway track under a stationary goods train while carrying a patient on a stretcher in Jharkhand.
In the video, three men are seen carrying the patient on a stretcher and passing beneath the train, followed by others accompanying them.
Watch the video here:
According to reports, the goods train had been halted at the same spot for an extended period, forcing people to take the extreme measure of crossing the track from underneath it.
The men reportedly carried the patient for a kilometre on the stretcher. The incident occurred at Jaintgarh in the West Singhbhum district.
Reports indicate that when the patient’s health deteriorated, family members called for an ambulance. However, the vehicle could not reach Mundasahi village due to the lack of an approach road connecting the village to the main road. The ambulance stopped a kilometre away from the village, leaving the family with no option but to carry the patient on a stretcher to reach it.
Their ordeal did not end there. On their way, they encountered a railway track where a goods train had been stationary for a long time. After waiting for the train to move, the family decided to risk crossing under it.
Once they crossed the train, they managed to reach the ambulance, and the patient was taken to the Champua Sub-Divisional Hospital, where he is reportedly undergoing treatment.
The video has shocked netizens, many of whom are questioning the government over the lack of basic infrastructure in the state.
