Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case: 'Attacker' Wanted To Flee To His Hometown In Bangladesh, But Failed - DETAILS
Bangladeshi national Shariful Islam Shehzad, who allegedly entered Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan's house in Mumbai's Bandra and attacked him, wanted to go to his home in the neighbouring country. However, he was arrested before he could execute his plan.

Kolkata: Bangladeshi national Shariful Islam Shehzad, who allegedly entered Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan's house in Mumbai's Bandra and attacked him, wanted to go to his home in the neighbouring country. Saif was attacked several times. However, after the incident, he managed to flee from the Bollywood actor's home despite being reportedly locked inside a room.
Shariful had a plan to travel back to his country. According to a report by NDTV, the alleged attacker was planning to first travel to Howrah near Kolkata and then to Bangladesh after he realised that the police were tracking him. The accused in the case repeatedly tried to arrange a ticket to Howrah. However, travel agents demanded more money due to the short notice.
Shariful was arrested from Thane. The Mumbai Police are now tracking all the travel agents whom the alleged attacker contacted. The police also reportedly seized Shafirul's mobile, shirt and cap. Meanwhile, the police are yet to recover the part of the knife used to attack Saif Ali Khan.
According to a report in The Times of India, the police said that the accused broke into Saif's home with the intention of robbery because of extreme poverty. Shariful reportedly lost a job at a restaurant in Thane on December 15 last year, Before joining the Thane restaurant in September, he worked at a restaurant in Worli and used to earn Rs 13,000, out of which he sent Rs 12,000 every month to his ailing mother and kept only Rs 1000, reported TOI.
He was reportedly expelled from the restaurant after he was caught stealing. He lost his job at the Thane restaurant when his contract was over with a manpower agency owned by a man named Jitendra Pandey. Notably, he randomly chose Saif Ali Khan's house for robbery, claimed the report. Shariful was tracked after Pandey provided his Worli location and phone number, reported TOI.
The actor was discharged from Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital on January 21. Saif was stabbed multiple times by Shariful on January 16.
