Chandigarh: Punjab assembly on Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over the death of veteran marathoner Fauja Singh and paid tribute to him.
Moving the motion, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ravjot Singh expressed grief over the demise of 114-year-old Fauja Singh in a road accident on Monday and said that he was the world’s oldest runner who had brought glory to the Sikh community worldwide through marathon races.

It may be recalled that Fauja Singh had died when a vehicle hit him while he was crossing the road at his native village Beas near Adampur town in Jalandhar district, on Monday.
