New Delhi: Ruckus erupted in the Lok Sabha as the monsoon session of Parliament began on Monday. The Lower House was adjourned by Speaker Om Birla amid sloganeering by Opposition MPs minutes after the session began.
Notably, the Opposition was demanding a discussion on Operation Sindoor. "You should give notice and whatever the issue is, it will be discussed after the Question Hour. The House should function on the first day, and there should be a good discussion. I will give proper time and opportunity to every MP," Birla said on the protest by opposition MPs in Lok Sabha.
Initially, the Lower House was adjourned till 12 noon. However, it was against adjourned till 2 pm as the ruckus continued.
The monsoon session of Parliament began by paying tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack and the Air India AI-171 plane crash.
During the monsoon session, the Opposition INDIA bloc is gearing to corner Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Centre on several key issues, including the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, Bihar Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and Air India (AI) 171 crash.
The opposition is also likely to target the government on United States President Donald Trump's repeated claims of brokering peace between India and Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. Notaby, This is the first session of Parliament after Operation Sindoor, India's precision strike on terror camps in the aftermath of the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people.
PM Modi Addressing Media Ahead Of Monsoon Session:
Earlier in the day, PM Modi hailed Operation Sindoor. While interacting with the media ahead of the session, said that the Indian Defence Forces achieved all their objectives in the Operation Sindoor against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
"Under Operation Sindoor, the houses of the masters of terrorists were razed to the ground within 22 minutes. The world has been very attracted to this new form of Made in India military power," PM Modi told reporters.
"These days, whenever I meet people of the world, the world's attraction towards the Made in India weapons being made by India is increasing," he added.
The Prime Minister also stated that the monsoon session of Parliament is like a victory celebration as India's Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla became the first Indian to travel to the International Space Station (ISS).
"This Monsoon session of Parliament is like a victory celebration. India's flag being hoisted at the International Space Station is a moment of pride for every Indian. All MPs and the countrymen in one voice will glorify this feat. It will be an inspiration for our future missions," PM Modi said.
The monsoon session will conclude on August 21.
