India is a democratic nation where citizens have the right to form friendships and choose their life partners. Yet, even today, many in the country impose severe restrictions on their sisters and daughters. These individuals cannot tolerate the idea of women from their household interacting with men outside their family. If they see their sisters or daughters with someone, they resort to violence—beating not only the man but also their own sister, subjecting them to humiliation and abuse.
A recent incident highlights this disturbing trend. A group of men, led by a woman’s brother, stormed a pizza cafe in Hapur’s Nagar Kotwali area after learning she was there with her boyfriend. CCTV footage from Pepper’s Pizza on Freeganj Road captures the horrifying assault. The brother and his accomplices brutally attacked the young man with rods, kicks, and punches. When the sister tried to intervene, the brother callously slapped her repeatedly.

The trigger? The brother allegedly lost his temper upon seeing his sister with her boyfriend in an intimate moment. Despite the clear evidence of assault, no police complaint has been filed yet. The video has sparked outrage, reigniting debates about toxic patriarchy, moral policing, and the urgent need for societal change in how women’s autonomy is perceived.
Authorities are yet to take action, but the footage serves as a grim reminder of how regressive mindsets continue to endanger personal freedoms—even in public spaces.
