'MGNREGA Plays A Crucial Role In Strengthening The Rural Economy': Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai

Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai chaired a review meeting of Chhattisgarh Rural Employment Guarantee Council at the Chief Minister's Office in Vidhan Sabha Campus, on ongoing projects under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
After reviewing the progress report, the CM directed officials to ensure high-quality and timely execution of these projects to maximize benefits for rural families.
He emphasized prioritizing the construction of the Dharasa approach road and the Amrit Sarovar Project to enhance rural infrastructure and promote water conservation.
CM Sai stated that the Chhattisgarh government aims not only to provide employment but also to foster self-reliance in rural areas. MGNREGA projects are designed with a long-term vision for holistic rural development. He underscored the importance of transparency and accountability in implementation to empower the poor.
Additionally, he highlighted the government's focus on integrating MGNREGA with other development schemes to accelerate rural progress.
The meeting reviewed financial progress for FY 2023-24 and 2024-25, the labour budget for 2025-26, key performance indicators, and the convergence model for better implementation. The annual progress report from 2019-20 to 2023-24 was also presented.
MGNREGA Commissioner Rajat Bansal informed that out of 38.52 lakh registered families in the state, 24.89 lakh have been provided employment. Under the Amrit Sarovar Scheme, a target of 2,902 reservoirs has been set, with 1,095 approved, 299 completed, and work ongoing at 472 sites, an official communication said.
