Raipur: Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, the main promoters of the Mahadev online betting (satta) app, were spotted at an event featuring the popular Bhagwat Katha reciter Pandit Pradeep Mishra in Dubai.
During the recital, both Chandrakar and Uppal showered flowers on Pandit Mishra, who referred to Chandrakar as a brother and thanked his family for organizing the event. A video clip from this gathering went viral on social media, sparking a political controversy between Congress and the ruling BJP.
The recital took place from December 9 to 11 at the Le Meridien Hotel & Conference Centre in Dubai, with sponsorship from Saurabh Chandrakar, the main promoter of the Mahadev Satta App.
In response to the event, former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel accused both the central and state governments of spreading rumors and misinformation about the Mahadev app. "The public should know that Saurabh Chandrakar has not been arrested. The leaders of both governments must apologize for lying and misleading the public," he stated.
On October 11, reports emerged that Saurabh Chandrakar, who operates the Mahadev Satta app in Dubai, had been arrested by Interpol officials, with the CBI and ED in contact with Dubai Police and Interpol regarding the case. Just two months after his reported arrest, he appeared at a public event.
Chhattisgarh Congress state president Deepak Baij criticized the so-called double-engine government at both the state and central levels, questioning their inaction regarding the Mahadev betting app promoters.
He expressed frustration that mere media statements were insufficient, especially given reports that the government had placed Chandrakar on a wanted list and that Interpol had issued a red corner notice against him and his associates.
BJP leader Gaurishankar Shrivas countered the allegations and said, reciters or story tellers must get no objection certificates from Congress before organizing any religious events.
