LoP Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi Reaches Prime Minister's Office For Meeting On Appointment Of New CBI Chief
The current CBI chief, Praveen Sood, an IPS officer of the 1986 batch (Karnataka cadre), is set to retire from the post this month.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and the Chief Justice of India, Sanjiv Khanna, arrived at the PMO in South Block to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Rahul Gandhi and the CJI will participate in the meeting convened to select the new head of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The current CBI chief, Praveen Sood, an IPS officer of the 1986 batch (Karnataka cadre), is set to retire from the post this month.
He was appointed to lead the investigation agency in May 2023 for a two-year term.
The committee responsible for selecting the next CBI director comprises three members headed by the Prime Minister. The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court are the other two members of the high-level committee.
Meanwhile, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has also reached the PMO for a high-level meeting with PM Modi. The discussions are expected to around key strategic and security matters.
Earlier today, PM Modi met with Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh amid growing tensions with Pakistan following the Pahalgam terrorist attack. During the meeting, the Prime Minister was reportedly briefed on the latest security situation and military preparations, particularly along the western frontier.
