New Delhi, August 16: Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Saturday welcomed the Summit meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska. India has described their leadership in the pursuit of peace as “highly commendable.”
The Ministry of External Affairs said it appreciates the progress achieved during the talks and stressed that the only way forward is through dialogue and diplomacy. Emphasising the global desire for stability, India reiterated that the world is keen to see an early resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.
MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal issued statement and said, "India welcomes the Summit meeting in Alaska between US President Donald Trump and President Vladimir Putin of Russia. Their leadership in the pursuit of peace is highly commendable."
The statement further read, "India appreciates the progress made in the Summit. The way forward can only be through dialogue and diplomacy. The world wants to see an early end to the conflict in Ukraine."
