Delhi earthquake: Shakarpur residents call for help after suspecting residential building to have tilted; watch
Several buildings in Delhi were reported to have titled due to the strong earthquake which rocked the national capital on Tuesday night.
The tremors were so strong that people rushed out of their homes and came out on the streets as the earthquake lasted nearly two minutes.
The fire department received multiple calls about damage to buildings, one of them coming from the Shakarpur area in the city where residents panicked and called for help about a building which appeared to have tilted slightly after the quake.
Building did not tilt
Fortunately, the fire department concluded that the building didn't actually tilt. Police and the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) personnel had also arrived on the spot.
"The building is not tilted. This seems to be a good intention call by the neighbours as the building occupants were not aware of the call," the fire department said.
Apart from Delhi-NCR, the earthquake was felt across northern region, including Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.
No deaths or injuries were reported from any of the Indian states after the quake.
