Bulletproof Vehicle, Commandoes At Airport: Security Tightened As Mumbai 26/11 Attack Mastermind Tahawwur Rana's Flight Set To Land In Delhi Today

New Delhi: A special flight carrying Mumbai 26/11 attacks mastermind Tahawwur Rana will land in Delhi on Thursday. Rana has been extradited from the US. In the wake of Rana's arrival, security has been tightened in several areas of Delhi.

After landing, Rana will be taken to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) headquarters from Palam airport. He will reportedly be transported in a bulletproof vehicle, reported India Today citing sources.

Commandoes from the Delhi Police Special Cell have been deployed at the airport. A Marksman vehicle has also been kept on standby, reported the media house. This vehicle is used by Delhi Police's Special Cell to take terrorists and gangsters to court or offices of federal agencies.

Security Arrangements Outside The Airport:

Rana has reportedly been charged under multiple sections, including criminal conspiracy, waging war against the Government of India, murder, forgery, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The Mumbai Police, however, have not yet received an official communication regarding his transfer to the city.

Rana was officially handed over to the NIA on April 8 in California.

He is known to be associated with Pakistani-American terrorist David Coleman Headley, one of the main conspirators of the Mumbai attacks.

Tahawwur Hussain Rana is a Pakistani former military doctor who served in the Pakistan Army. Rana moved to Canada after gaining citizenship and became an immigration service businessman. Rana along with Headley planned the Mumbai terror attack.
