BRICS Summit 2026: PM Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin Hold Bilateral Meeting In Delhi, Trade Deals On Agenda
The meeting focused on strengthening India-Russia cooperation, with both countries working towards $100 billion in bilateral trade by 2030. The leaders met less than two weeks after their SCO meeting in Bishkek, where they reviewed cooperation across trade, energy and defence.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of BRICS Summit 2026 in New Delhi. The two leaders shared another friendly hug and handshake as the they break the record for the frequency of meetings between leaders of the two nations. Both Putin and PM Modi met just last week at the SCO Summit.
According to news agency ANI, citing sources, the agenda of the Modi-Putin bilateral meeting is likely to include setting an ambitious bilateral trade target of USD 100 billion by 2030, expanding industrial cooperation through INNOPROM in India, strengthening collaboration in the railway and tunnelling sectors, developing the steel value chain, creating more B2B opportunities, broadening Indian access to the Russian market, strengthening civil nuclear cooperation, including fuel cycle and life-cycle support, increasing cooperation in mobility and skilled labour, enhancing collaboration on critical minerals, and sustaining and increasing fertiliser cooperation through strategic joint venture projects
