Muzaffarpur (Bihar): In a tragic accident, five Nepalese nationals lost their lives while returning from Prayagraj after attending the Maha Kumbh. Their SUV crashed into a divider and overturned multiple times on the Madhubani four-lane bypass near Muzaffarpur on Saturday.
According to reports, the speeding Scorpio SUV attempted to avoid a biker performing stunts on the road. In an effort to steer clear of a collision, the driver lost control, leading to a devastating crash. The force of the impact was so intense that the vehicle flipped over five times before coming to a halt.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as horrifying, with screams of distress filling the air. Visuals from the site show the car completely mangled, with shattered windows and bloodstains visible on the wreckage. One of the vehicle’s tires even broke off and entered the cabin during the rollover, worsening the damage.
Victims Of Tragic Crash Identified
The vehicle was carrying a total of nine people. Five of them, including the driver, died on the spot, while four others sustained critical injuries. The deceased have been identified as Archana Thakur, Indu Devi, Mantarni Devi, Bal Krishna Jha and the driver, as reported by NDTV. The injured victims, Manohar Thakur, Srishti Thakur, Kamni Jha, and Devtaran Devi, have been rushed to Shri Krishna Memorial Medical College (SKMCH) for treatment. Their condition remains critical.
Eyewitnesses claim that a group of bikers were performing dangerous stunts on the four-lane road, causing the SUV driver to swerve sharply in an attempt to avoid a collision. As the car crashed, the bikers quickly fled the scene.
Police officials have noted that the SUV’s airbags failed to deploy, contributing to the severity of injuries sustained by the passengers.
"Five people lost their lives at the spot, while four others were rescued from the vehicle with severe injuries. Local residents assisted in pulling the victims out of the wreckage and transporting them to the hospital. We have also informed Nepalese authorities about the incident and are making efforts to contact the victims' family members," a senior police official stated.
