Bengaluru: A disturbing incident of sexual harassment came to light from Bengaluru, where a woman was molested by an unidentified man while walking on a deserted street late at night. The incident, which reportedly occurred on April 3, was captured on CCTV and has since gone viral on social media, sparking outrage over women's safety in the city.

CCTV Footage Captures Shocking Assault

According to a report by Aaj Tak, the victim was walking with her friend in a quiet residential colony when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her. The CCTV footage shows the man physically assaulting and molesting the woman. When she resisted, the attacker fled the scene.

The visuals suggest the area was dimly lit and deserted at the time, allowing the perpetrator to take advantage of the lack of bystanders. The incident reportedly occurred in a stretch of the colony that had minimal surveillance or foot traffic, raising concerns about the safety of women in such areas during nighttime.

Police Launch Probe

The police have registered an FIR under Sections 74, 75, and 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation into the incident is currently underway, confirmed Sarah Fathima, DCP, South East Bengaluru.

Earlier, police officials stated that they were awaiting a formal complaint from the victim, but if one was not filed, they would proceed with registering a case suo motu. “We are treating this matter seriously and will take necessary action based on the evidence,” an officer told Aaj Tak.
