A tragic accident shook Mumbai's Mulund on Saturday afternoon, as a section of an under-construction metro pillar collapsed, leaving one person dead and two others injured. In response to the incident, Bigg Boss 14 runner-up Rahul Vaidya shared his concerns on Instagram, revealing how anxious he feels every time he crosses a metro bridge in the city.

Resharing the news of the Mumbai metro accident on Instagram, where one person died and four were injured after an under-construction pillar collapsed, Rahul Vaidya wrote, "I always get scared whenever I go under a metro bridge… trust me." Referring to the tragic incident, he added, "This is exactly what I always fear!"

The accident took place around 12:20 pm on the bustling LBS Road, near the Johnson & Johnson factory, when a portion of an under-construction cement metro pillar collapse. It hit a passing autorickshaw, killing one of the passengers and injuring others.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his condolences and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. The state government announced financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakh for the family of the deceased and confirmed that the medical expenses of the injured will be fully covered.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) also expressed regret over the incident. In an official statement, it noted, "Some reports and social media posts have suggested a link to an earlier misleading post questioning the structural stability of Metro Line 4 construction." The authority urged the public not to circulate inaccurate information online. MMRDA further stated that a high-level investigation has been ordered and assured, "We urge people to await the findings of the report and assure that all those found responsible will face strict action," emphasizing accountability and transparency in the inquiry. Amid the accident, a fine of Rs. 5 crore has been imposed on the contractor and Rs. 1 crore on the general consultants.
