The results for the first weekend test of Bollywood star Sunny Deol's latest release Jaat is out and while the film has raked in a decent figure, it failed to breach the Rs 50 crore mark. On Sunday, the film saw a major jump in its box office numbers after a slow start.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, Jaat earned Rs 14 crore on Sunday, which was the film's fourth day in theatres. It opened with Rs 9.50 crore when it released on April 10, followed by Rs 7 crore on its second day. On its third day, Jaat earned Rs 9.75 crore, and it then saw a 43 per cent jump on Sunday. The total box office collection of Jaat now stands at Rs 40 crore.
Interestingly, Deol's 2023 blockbuster Gadar 2 had earned Rs 40 crore in its first day itself.
With a strong word of mouth, Jaat might rake in another Rs 20 crore by the end of its first week in theatres, but with Akshay Kumar's Kesari 2 releasing on April 18, it will be interesting to see if the Sunny Deol-starrer manages to give it a fight and survive in the theatres.
It is to be noted that according to a report in Indian Express, around 400 shows of Jaat were cancelled in Mumbai, Delhi and other cities of India due to its below-average box office performance on the first two days.
