Ex-Fossils Band Member Chandramouli Biswas Dies By Suicide At 48 In Kolkata, Note Recovered

Chandramouli Biswas, known for being a part of bands like Fossils, Golok and Zombie Cage Control as a bassist, was found dead at his Kolkata residence on Sunday evening. The 48-year-old bassist decided to hang himself to death when his elderly parents weren't home. He was reportedly battling depression for the past few years.

Chandramouli Biswas, known for being a part of bands like Fossils, Golok and Zombie Cage Control as a bassist, was found dead at his Kolkata residence on Sunday evening. He reportedly hung himself to death at his rented house on Indian Mirror Street, near Wellington in central Kolkata.

According to a report in Times of India, the 48-year-old bassist, who is survived by his parents, was alone at home when he decided to take the drastic step. The incident came to light when one of his current band members, Mohul Chakraborty of the band Golok, called him but could not reach him.

"He was not taking my calls since morning, and I became worried for him. I called up one of his close friends and both of us reached his home to check on him when we found him dead. It's a big loss for the entire Bengal music industry," Chakraborty told TOI.

Reportedly, a suicide note was recovered from Biswas' residence in which he wrote that no one was responsible for his death.

Biswas was repprtedly suffering from depression for the past few years now, as a result of which he was not even eating much and had grown frail. The bassist was also undergoing treatment and therapy for depression.

His mortal remains have now been sent for post mortem and the suicide note has been submitted by the cops for handwriting analysis.

It is to be noted that Biswas updated his social media profile only hours before his death. He changed his profile photo on Facebook and it received likes and compliments from his friends.

Biswas was a key member of the band Fossils from 2000 to 2018. The band is known to be one of the pioneers in Bengal's rock music sector, and while Biswas had joined it as a guitarist, he later became the band's bassist. In 2018, he quit the band citing health issues.

After a brief break, he joined Zombie Cage Control, and before his death, he was a part of the band, Golok.
