Mumbai: The Philippines continues to strengthen its position as a key destination for Indian medical aspirants, with more than 1,000 students graduating this week from the Davao Medical School Foundation (DMSF) in Davao City.

A total of 1,015 graduates of Indian origin received their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees during the institution’s 25th International Medical Doctors Graduation Ceremony. The MD qualification awarded by the school is considered equivalent to the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree in India, allowing graduates to pursue medical practice after clearing the required screening examinations.

The ceremony brought together families, faculty members and international education partners to celebrate one of the largest graduating cohorts of Indian students from an overseas medical university in recent years. For many graduates, the occasion marked the culmination of several years of academic training and clinical exposure after leaving their home states in India to pursue medical education abroad.

Over the years, the Davao Medical School Foundation has emerged as a prominent choice for Indian medical aspirants seeking overseas education. According to the institution, nearly 12,000 Indian students have graduated from the school, with many now practising medicine in India as well as in other countries.

This year’s graduating class represented a broad cross-section of India. Students travelled from metropolitan cities as well as smaller towns to study medicine in the Philippines, reflecting a growing trend among Indian students exploring international medical education pathways.
