Educational Testing Service (ETS), in collaboration with the National Indian Students and Alumni Union (NISAU), has announced the 2nd Edition of the 'UK-India TOEFL Scholarship' for 10 Indian scholars.
About merit scholarships by ETS
Each selected candidate will be awarded a one-time scholarship of Rs 2.5 lakhs, contributing to a total scholarship fund of Rs 25 lakhs. These scholarships aim to recognize and support applicants pursuing full-time, on-campus undergraduate or postgraduate programs at universities in the United Kingdom. ETS has also announced TOEFL India Championship, a national-level competition offering total prize money of Rs 15 lakhs. According to ETS this championship provides participants a platform to demonstrate their English proficiency and academic excellence.
Faster and simplified registration process for TOEFL
This comes along with ETS announcing a faster and simplified registration process for the TOEFL iBT test that was effective from October 1, 2024. The updated system enables candidates to complete their registration in six steps, reducing the overall time required to under five minutes. This improvement eliminates steps like selecting score recipients and additional information gathering during registration, which can now be done after the initial process.
The simplified registration process with six steps is as follows
1. Create an account (username, email, password)
2. Choose 1 or 2 tests
3. Select test date(s) and time(s)
4. Enter personal information (name, address, phone)
5. Add or decline featured test prep
6. Review the shopping cart and pay
Ongoing efforts to enhance the test experience
As part of TOEFL’s ongoing efforts to enhance the test experience, this update builds on recent improvements over the past three years, including the introduction of the shortened test (less than 2 hours), MyBest® scores, and the TOEFL iBT Home Edition, all aimed at making the test more accessible, particularly in India, where demand for international education is rising.
