Mumbai: The selection list for the 25% Right to Education (RTE) admission is set to be announced today, 14 February, following the lottery draw conducted on 10 February 2025. Parents of selected children will have from 14 to 28 February to complete the admission process, according to Sharad Gosavi, Director of Primary Education.
To facilitate the verification process for students selected through the lottery, verification committees have been established under the chairmanship of all Group Education Officers and Administrative Officers across the state.
These committees will conduct the initial review of documents submitted by parents. If the verification is deemed satisfactory, the student’s admission will be recorded online. A provisional admission will be granted with an allotment letter, which will be confirmed after the document verification.
Parents who fail to attend the document verification within the specified timeframe will be given two additional opportunities to complete the process. Additionally, any admission obtained through false or misleading information will be cancelled at any stage upon discovery.
The education department has urged parents to contact the verification committee directly and check the RTE portal regularly, rather than relying on SMS notifications. It has also warned that no admissions will be permitted after the deadline, regardless of vacancies, and no appeals will be considered.
Parents are advised to remain vigilant against fraudulent admission offers and report any malpractices. The 25% RTE admission process, under the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009, provides access to education for children from economically weaker sections and disadvantaged groups.
