Kollam (Kerala): A 13-year-old boy died after suffering an electric shock on his school premises in this district on Thursday, police said.
About The Incident
The victim has been identified as Mithun, a Class 8 student of Boys High School, Thevalakkara.
Police said the incident happened at around 9:15 am, when he reportedly tried to retrieve a slipper that had fallen on top of the cycle shed.
A low-hanging electric wire was nearby, and Mithun was electrocuted while trying to get his slipper, they said.
He died on the spot, and his body was shifted to a government hospital.
General Education Minister V Sivankutty described the incident as "extremely tragic" and directed the Director of Public Instructions to conduct an inquiry and submit an urgent report.
