New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the 57th Convocation Ceremony of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi tomorrow, August 8, as the chief guest. The event, scheduled to begin at 11 am, will celebrate the graduation of more than 3,000 students, including 587 doctoral scholars.

Academic honours at convocation

During the ceremony, the Prime Minister will confer the institute's top academic honours on students for their outstanding achievements. The awards include the President's Gold Medal, Director's Gold Medal, Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal, and the Perfect Ten Gold Medals.

Launch of AI supercomputer

Apart from the convocation, Modi will inaugurate Param Pragya, an artificial intelligence-powered high-performance supercomputing facility set up at IIT Delhi's Sonipat campus.

The advanced computing infrastructure has been developed to strengthen the institute's research capabilities across areas such as artificial intelligence, data science, high-performance computing, and interdisciplinary research. The facility is expected to provide researchers and students with enhanced computational resources for complex scientific and technological research.

Boost to AI research ecosystem

The inauguration of Param Pragya is expected to mark another step in institute efforts to expand its AI and advanced computing ecosystem while encouraging cutting-edge research and innovation in higher education institutions.
