Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) President Ronak Khatri has once again made headlines after breaking the glass window of an administrative office counter on the DU campus. Khatri’s action was a protest against the inconvenience faced by students, who reportedly had to bend down and repeatedly call out to staff through a small window to get their paperwork done, whether it was for exam forms, attendance, or official signatures. Long queues and limited access had become a daily struggle for students, prompting Khatri to criticise the university administration for what he called an unfriendly and inefficient system.
"Over 10,000 students were wrongly marked with ER or backlog due to an administrative error—now they're being made to stand in long queues to fix it. Whether it's exam forms, attendance, or getting a simple signature or stamp, students are forced to wait for hours at counters. Why does it feel like the administration is working against the students, hiding behind glass windows and making it so difficult to communicate? Why must every student bend down and repeatedly call out just to be heard?," Khatri said on a social media account.
"We demand a student-friendly environment in colleges—after all, colleges belong to the students too," further added.
The incident of the video quickly went viral, with students in line reportedly applauding Khatri’s protest. This is not the first time the DUSU president has taken dramatic action to highlight student issues-he has previously been involved in other high-profile protests, including smearing cow dung on the office walls of a college principal to criticise unconventional practices in classrooms.
