Delhi: A dense layer of fog enveloped Delhi on Tuesday morning, January 14, 2025, causing visibility to drop to zero. Due to the zero visibility, the weather department has issued an Orange alert for dense fog. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to be around 7 degrees Celsius and 18 degrees Celsius.
On Sunday, The cold decreased visibility, interfered with transportation, and pushed numerous homeless individuals to seek refuge in night shelters. The thick fog worsened the already declining air quality in the national capital.
Delhi weather conditions today
The city witnesses the sunrise at 07:16 am, and the sun is likely to set at 5:46 pm. The IMD has predicted partly cloudy skies today and the wind is expected to blow steadily from the west at a speed of 10 km/h. The humidity is expected to be around 66 per cent. Meanwhile, the AQI is expected to stand at 234, which indicates very unhealthy air quality in the city and the surrounding areas.
News Agency ANI shared the city's fog visuals on X and stated, "Delhi | A thin layer of fog blankets Akshardham Temple and Mayur Vihar area as the cold wave continues in the national capital."
Cold wave conditions in upcoming days
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted light rainfall in the city on January 15 and 16, which is expected to lead to a drop in temperatures. The weather department also indicated that cold wave conditions may persist in the areas surrounding Delhi. As a result, people are likely to experience ongoing cold weather with no relief in sight.
