RPF–GRP Joint 'Operation Satark' Leads to Arrest for Illegal Liquor Transport at Bhopal Railway Premises

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A coordinated operation -“Operation Satark” -by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) at the West Central Railway’s Bhopal Division led to an arrest and seizure of illegal liquor.

During a routine inspection on June 7, in the Bina-side outer area of Bhopal station, Assistant Sub‑Inspector Raghavendra Singh, along with Head Constables Jitendra Upadhyay, Sarvesh Singh, and Deepak Khedkar from the GRP’s Bhopal Post, noticed a suspicious individual. The man was identified as Baburam, son of Kalpi, 55, a resident of Shivpuri, New Delhi.

A search of his three bags revealed 17 bottles of English liquor (14 bottles of Royal Stag and 3 bottles of Black Dog), each 750 ml - totaling 12.75 litres - estimated to be worth ₹21,800.

Baburam was unable to produce any authorized documents or licenses permitting the transport of alcohol.

Consequently, GRP officers seized the liquor on the spot and registered a case under Section 34 of the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act, 1915, at the Bhopal GRP Police Station.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria stated that under “Operation Satark,” RPF‑GRP teams continue to run vigilant campaigns across railway premises. He emphasized that ensuring passenger safety and maintaining crime‑free railway zones remain top departmental priorities.
