Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A man was shot at in broad daylight by an unidentified miscreant following an altercation over collision of two wheelers in Karod area under Nishatpura police station on Wednesday afternoon.
The assailant on the scooty fled after shooting at the man and efforts are underway to identify and trace him, police said. The injured man is undergoing treatment at the hospital, his condition is stable.
Assistant sub inspector at Nishatpura police station Prem Narayan said the victim Zahid Khan (33) and his friend Shoaib had gone to Karod area.
They were returning to their home in Barkhedi area on their bike when it collided with a scooty coming from the opposite direction. The duo had an altercation with the scooty-borne man. Zahid asked Shoaib to move the bike when he spotted the man on the scooty carrying a pistol.
Shoaib and Zahid sped away on their bike in a bid to escape but the man on the scooty followed them. About 100 meters ahead, Shaoib stopped the scooty thinking that they were not being followed.
However, suddenly the unidentified man came from behind and opened fire on Zahid. The bullet pierced through Zahid’s shoulders and he fell down as the assailant fled from the scene, ASI added.
ASI Prem Narayan said an FIR has been registered against the unidentified assailant and he is being traced through the registration number of the scooty. CCTV footage in the area were being scanned to identify the assailant, he added.
