Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): From January 2024 to June 2025, five police personnel were killed and 612 of them were injured. This was state government’s reply in the Assembly in response to a question raised by Congress MLA Bala Bachchan on Tuesday. Responding to his question on assault on police, government said there were 461 incidents of assault on police.
The MLA Bala Bachchan said he had asked the government about the crimes that took place in Bhopal and Indore commissionerate from December 9, 2021 to June 30, 2024.
In Indore, there were 3061 burglary cases, 11,567 vehicle lifting cases, 5321 loot incidents, 308 murders. The number of atrocities against women was 5054 and against SC/ST, it was 409.
In Bhopal, there were 2375 cases of burglary, 5654 cases of vehicle lifting, 191 loot, 158 people were murdered, 8664 cases of atrocities against women and 356 cases of SC/ST atrocities.
He alleged that the law and order situation of the state was very poor and women, SC, ST were not safe.
He alleged that police commissioner system in Bhopal and Indore failed to provide safety for the women.
