Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): In a bizarre incident, Jabalpur police lured a rape accused with food to catch him!
In fact, the rape accused had been on the run since 2018, to catch whom, the police came up with this unique method.
According to police, the rape accused has been identified as Ashish Jharia. He had been hiding in Mumbai and Pune for the last seven years.
To lure him out, the police used the name of his friend, who had helped him during his escape. They invited him to a religious feast ‘Bhandara,’ a free food distribution in Jabalpur.
Believing the invitation to be genuine, Ashish arrived at the event, where the crime branch arrested him.
The rape case was registered in 2018 at Madan Mahal Police Station. Jabalpur police’s smart strategy is being praised for successfully capturing the long-escaped criminal.
Cop posed as accused’s friend
According to information, crime branch inspector Ajay Patel posed as Ashish’s friend and invited him to the Bhandara. Ashish trusted the inspector and actually arrived at the Bhandara.
As soon as he arrived, the police officials became alert and nabbed him and sent him behind the bars.
This initiative and technique of Jabalpur police is being appreciated all over.
