Gwalior: Two convicts sentenced to 4 years of Rigorous Imprisonment in Vyapam scam
The court also slapped a fine of Rs 13,100 each.

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): The special court of CBI in district announced four years of rigorous imprisonment to two persons in a case pertaining to contractual school teachers eligibility test conducted in 2011. The punishment has been awarded to a solver and a candidate. The examination (Samvida Shala Shikshak Patrata Pariksha-2011 for Category-II) was conducted by Vyapam.
The Special Judge hearing Vyapam cases sentenced solver Gulab Singh Patel and candidate Jitendra Kumar Jatav to four years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 13,100 each in the case.
The CBI had registered the case on August 4, 2015, following an order issued by the Supreme Court on July 9, 2015. An FIR was registered in the case at Dehat police station in Bhind against Jitendra Kumar Jatav and Gulab Singh and others on charges of impersonating in the examination.
It was revealed during investigation that a middleman approached a person to look for a person who can get a candidate clear the eligibility test through impersonation. The middleman offered Rs 1 lakh for the job. The middleman promised to give Rs 10,000 per candidate as commission. Gulab Singh was arranged as a solver for candidate Jitendra Kumar Jatav.
After investigation, a charge sheet was filed against the accused at Gwalior district court on June 30, 2016. The court found the accused guilty and convicted them. One of the accused had died during trial.
