Bhopal News: Metro Train Timetable To Change From April 3

On Monday, the TBM was launched to a depth of 24 metres. “It will be in two to three days that the TBM, christened Durgawati, will begin digging work. The per day digging capacity is 14 metres, but as Bhopal’s landscape is rocky, it might dig only five to seven metres per day,” a Metro project officer said.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Minor changes have been made to the Metro train timetable. From Friday, April 3, Metro trains will operate from 11 am to 4.30 pm. The decision has been taken to accelerate the remaining work on the signalling project.

Notably, since its inauguration, the Metro train has been running between Subash Nagar station and AIIMS, covering eight stations. Currently, Metro services operate from 12 noon to 7.30 pm.

Tunnel machine to begin work in two to three days

The tunnel boring machine (TBM) ‘Durgawati’ will begin digging work within two to three days. Its cutter ring requires thrust to move ahead, and synchronisation work is currently underway.

Another TBM, named ‘Ahilyabai’, will be launched when the first TBM digs 50 metres of tunnel. The tunnelling work will take at least two months, after which construction will begin.

The construction phase may take at least one-and-a-half years. One end of the tunnel is near the Old Railway Station, while the other will open towards the Pul Patra area. The tunnel will have two metro lines, including up and down lines.
