Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Politics over burning of Union Carbide’s waste by Remky Company in Pithampur has intensified. MPCC president Jitu Patwari and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav came face to face over the issue on Friday.
If the underground water of the 10 km surroundings of Remky Company is examined, the elements of cancer of will be found, Patwari said.
If it happens otherwise, he will publicly tender an apology, Patwari said, adding that government is offering an excuse of the court order on the UC waste issue. There are financial benefits behind it, he said.
Reacting to Patwari’s statement, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that it was because of the then Congress government’s administrative failure that thousands of people lost their lives in the Bhopal gas tragedy.
Previously, the Congress let the people die and now, it is trying to scare the public, he said.
Waste incineration began on Feb 28
The burning of Union Carbide’s toxic waste began at the Ramky Enviro Engineers Ltd. (REEL) in Tarpura village of Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, on February 28. In the first trial run, 10 tons of waste was destroyed in the factory’s incinerator.
Officials from the Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board, Dhar District Collector Priyank Mishra, SP Manoj Kumar Singh, and other authorities were present at the site during trial-1.
