Bhopal: 7 government, 9 private schools of district bag Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar

Bhopal(Madhya Pradesh): Sixteen private and government-run schools in the capital have been selected for Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2021-22. The award, instituted to spread awareness on cleanliness in schools during Covid-19 period. Seven government and nine private schools from Bhopal district have been selected for the award.

Government Girl Higher Secondary School, Tulsi Nagar has bagged the first position followed by Government Primary School, Suraj Nagar, while Government Secondary School, Kokta has been ranked third. Certificates will be given to the schools on Wednesday.

The aim of the award is to make schools aware of cleanliness and make efforts in this direction. The survey committee, under district education officer (DEO) inspected the schools, and scored them on cleanliness.

Selected schools have formed teams of ten students. A teacher has been made the nodal officer. Students will monitor cleanliness in their respective schools and will also motivate other students.

More than 100 government and private schools of the district had applied for the award, of which 16 schools were selected for the award. As many as 309 schools had applied for state level awards.

Schools were selected on the basis of cleanliness on premises including in classrooms, toilets, corridors ; greenery on campus, gardening, behavior and capacity development of children, work undertaken for Covid-19 control, maintenance, infrastructure, supply of potable water etc.

The focus of the School Education Department is on selected schools so that these educational institutions get Swachh Vidyalaya award at the state level and subsequently at national level, said the District Education Officer of Bhopal, Nitin Saxena.
