Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Administration swung into action after the collector received a letter on Saturday informing about a 95-year-old woman who had been kept on the terrace by her son and grandson. Left to endure the harsh temperatures exceeding 42 degrees Celsius, she was surviving with an old cot, torn tarpaulin and broken utensils.
Her son, now the owner of the family property, neglected her as she suffered alone, relying on stale food and dirty water.
The neighbours were aware of the situation for a long time but had not intervened, that is till the letter reached the collector.
Collector dispatched a team and found the old woman in a pitiable condition. The officials promptly relocated her to safety, overruling objections from the family. Plans are underway to place her in an old age home where she would receive the care and respect she deserves.
Patients crammed into ambulance
Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Disturbing images of patients being transported in overcrowded ambulances ignited outrage over the state of health services at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College Hospital.
A viral video shows patients stuffed into small ambulances, which raised serious questions about health department's practices.
The footage reveals not only the patients but also their family members packed into the vehicles. These ambulances are routinely used to transport patients to Sanya Prime Diagnostic Centre for essential CT and MRI scans, with multiple patients being sent.
In response, the Dean of the Medical College ordered an immediate investigation. Manager of the diagnostic centre, Mukul Guru said overcrowding must be addressed at the earliest.
