Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): Cyber police in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior have arrested a man who had been on the run for nine years after cheating a businessman of ₹52 lakh in the name of installing a Reliance mobile tower.
The mastermind, identified as Kumar Pintu from Vaishali in Bihar, was caught at Prayagraj railway station, as reported Sunday.
To dodge arrest, Pintu had been living in Prayagraj disguised as a ‘Sadhu’ in a well known Akhara during the Kumbh Mela. Shockingly, he even mingled with policemen daily while hiding his real identity.

Police said Pintu earlier worked in a bank, which gave him knowledge of financial systems. Using this, he and his gang cheated people through fake documents, forged identity cards, and promises of insurance policies and mobile tower installations.
He also operated a fraudulent call center from Delhi.
So far, five members of his gang have already been arrested. Pintu, however, had been switching between Delhi, Bihar, and Uttarakhand with multiple fake IDs to escape the police.
Cyber Police SP Pranay Nagvanshi confirmed that based on specific intelligence, a team led by DSP Sanjeev Nayan Sharma and Inspector Mukesh Narouliya surrounded Pintu at Prayagraj station and arrested him. He has now been brought back to Gwalior for questioning.
